Building Inclusive Schools Initiative
(BISI) is designed to:

Align
with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA
2004) and with state and local education improvement efforts

Improve
results for students with disabilities through higher expectations
and meaningful access to the general education curriculum

Address
individual student needs in the least restrictive environment
-
Model
and reinforce collaboration and consultation between general
education and special education staff
-
Focus
on best practices for academic and behavior interventions
for students with diverse learning needs
-
Address
the specific needs of campus personnel at the appropriate
levels of readiness--awareness, knowledge/information, application,
and operations
